AndroidOS is an operating system for mobile phones developed by Google for mobile phones. It is open source, and based off of the Linux operating system for PCs. It was launched in late 2008, and is becoming a very popular operating system behind SymbianOS, RIM, and the iPhone. China Mobile to launch 3G phone on android platform-source
China Mobile (0941.HK), the world's largest wireless carrier, plans to launch a 3G handset built on the Android platform in the first quarter, a source with direct knowledge of the issue said on Friday. The handset, named "OPhone", will be the first phone in China that features Google's (GOOG.O) Android operating system and will use China's homegrown third-generation mobile network, the source said.

NEP partners with Linux vendor on 3G gear
Continuous Computing (CCPU) announced it will make Wind River the default Linux networking distribution for its ATCA-compliant FlexTCA 3G/4G wireless equipment. CCPU will provide its Long Term Evolution (LTE) and Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) customers with reference designs based on Wind River Linux, says CCPU.
